The January 7 John Evans 50 (50km, 20km, and 5km race walks plus peripheral activities) in Houston doesn’t have a website. Let me know if you want an entry form. The 2008 edition will be the national open women’s and masters’ championship at 50km. The only US 50km race walks scheduled in between seem to be Jan. 28, San Diego CA, National Championships (moved from Feb. 12 at Clermont/Orlando FL to accommodate a change in the international calendar). Oct. 13, Minneapolis, MN, North Regional Championship and Midwest Regional Masters Championship, Minneapolis, MN. Oct. 28, Hauppauge (Long Island), NY – 5 hour cutoff. The US 50km Olympic Trials will be Feb. 10, 2008 at Palmetto Bay (Miami), FL. It’s the only race of these 6 with a qualifying standard – 4:45 since Jan. 1, 2006 – and the only one with a US-only requirement (in the other championships, foreigners can compete but not win the title of champion). All of the races except Jan. 7 and Oct. 13 will meeet the standards for Olympic Trials and World Championships qualifying; ALL will meet standards for U. S. national records.
