USATF National Championship 100K Road Race April 7

Posted by planetultramarathon on February 7, 2007

Dear Listers:
My husband is the race director for the USATF National Championship 100K
road race to be held here in Madison, WI, on April 7.  We’d like to invite
you all to run!   Our races’ website is:  www.madcity100K.com

We are offering prize money.   To offset race expenses, I am doing
fundraising.  We all know how difficult this can prove to be.  If you or
your company are interested in acting as sponsors, we’d be delighted.
Please see the following letter for details on how to help:

Dear Madam or Sir:

I am an athlete who has competed four times internationally as a member of
the USA 100K team, and who has completed three Ironman distance triathlons.
I am also a psychiatrist at Mendota Mental Health Institute.  Recently,
my husband, Tim Yanacheck, agreed to act as race director for the 2007
USATF National Championship 100K Race.  This race will be held here in
Madison on Saturday April 7.  In conjunction with the solo 100K race,
which will attract some of the nation=92s best ultrarunners, a relay will
be held in which we hope to attract local runners wishing to run 10-20 K
as a part of a team.  The race will be held on the Vilas Park/Arboretum
loop used for other local races such as the Jingle Bell Run.  We anticipate
the participation of 500 runners in this inaugural event.  Please take
time to look over our website at:  http://www.madcity100K.com

I know that you and your company promote wellness in its employees and in
the community.  Therefore, I would be delighted to have you sponsor this
event, which not only promotes fitness in our local runners, but exposes
young runners to runners who run distances internationally which are
longer than the marathon.

This race is important to the US ultrarunning community in that it will
act as a selection race for the USATF 100K team, which will travel to the
Netherlands in September, 2007, to compete in the World Cup 100K event.

What we need most right now is cash contributions.  This is because we are
offering prize money to offset the expenses our countrys best ultrarunners will incur in traveling to our event.  Contributors donating $2500 or
more will have their name printed on the back of each runners t-shirt
and on any banners.  This would provide great advertising for your
company, as both runners and volunteers will receive these shirts.  Wed
be thrilled to have you as a major sponsor.  Lesser contributions are
certainly welcomed and appreciated, though, and no contribution is too
small.  We will announce all contributors=92 names at the event and place
these companies  names on our website.  Your company could receive
additional exposure at the event by supplying literature or items with the
company logo to be placed in each runners goodie bag.

Even though Tim is a volunteer race director and we will use primarily
volunteer labor, we estimate that putting on this event will cost
approximately $30,000. If we are able to raise more money than the event
costs us, we will donate this money to the Fund for National Ultramarathon
Teams, Inc., a nonprofit corporation set up to raise funds to support our
national ultramarathon running teams in traveling abroad for competitions.

Please consider supporting us in our efforts to put on a quality event for
the nation=92s ultrarunners as well as an excellent and fun relay
experience for local runners.  Please contact Tim or me with any questions.
I may be reached at heaslam@dhfs.state.wi.us and Tim may be contacted at
timo@madcity100k.com .  Thank you for any support you can provide!

Sincerely,

Ann M. Heaslett, M.D.
Volunteer Fundraising Chairperson
