*Lin to meet Leno
*Fans of ultramarathon runner Kevin Lin ($BNS5A7f(B) are entering the final phase
of a competition to see which lucky three will get to join him on a 5km run
in the Arctic circle later this month, the Chinese-language *Apple
Daily*reported yesterday. After whittling down the original pool of
applicants
from 200 to 15, the final decision will be made after trials at Taipei
Municipal Cheng Yuan High School on Saturday.
The event, sponsored by Gamania Taiwan ($BM7Y&5L;R(B), is designed to give amateur
runners a small taste of the extreme conditions in which Lin makes his
living. After recently completing his run across the Sahara desert, Lin has
been invited to be a guest on the *Tonight Show* with Jay Leno at the end of
the month with his US and Canadian teammates. Lin seemed excited about the
appearance, saying, “I certainly want everyone to learn about Taiwan.”
