I did a 50k this past weekend. Some walking, some running. I ran the
downhills, and I ran when I wanted to talk to another runner (Bob
Oberkehr, Ray Krolewicz) as they lapped me.
The course is a 2.635 mile loop, with a short first loop. We were
chip-timed, so you can see all the splits in the results.
Gregory Crowther was the overall winner (3:04:34), the only runner at
sub-6:00 pace. He picked up an extra $350 for breaking the course
record. I talked to him after the race, and he remembered me from
Houston a year ago.
My first half marathon (5 laps measured from the start) was 2:18. My
next half marathon was also 2:18. I finished 50k in just under 5:30.
