Hello Friends, My name is Connie Karras and I am an ultramarathon runner from the Chicagoland area. About fifteen years ago, I became involved with the American Diabetes Association as a support group facilitator in the Chicagoland area and on Purdue University’s campus in Hammond, Indiana. Diabetes took the life of someone very special to me and it’s become important to me to help, in my own, small way, to find a cure. On July 1, 2007 I will be trekking 135 miles through Death Valley, CA in honor of those braves souls who not only lost their lives in the battle against this disease, but to the heroes who survive. I will run with hope that future generations will know diabetes as only something that existed in the past. To read about my effort in Death Valley, go to the Badwater Ultramarathon Forum: www.badwaterforum.org I served honorably in the United States Marine Corps and am also running in the hope that our brothers and sisters at war will come home soon. Before the Badwater 135 solo trek, I will also be running the McNaughton Park 100-Mile Trail Ultra on April 13, 2007: www.mcnaughtonpartktrailruns.com
Please give what you can; even one dollar will make a difference; however, what’s every bit as important as giving monetarily is giving of the heart. Please donate your loving energy as a volunteer for the American Diabetes Association or another agency of your choice. It’s all about the giving, not the taking. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I wish you happy trails in your life adventures. Yours in Wellness, Connie Karras All donations are tax deductible.
Editor’s note: I have only known of Connie via email over the last two, three years due to her helping Jesper Olsen in his World Run. She is a very giving person and I hope people can help donate to her run at Badwater! Good luck Connie.
