Winter Ultras– El Paso Mountains

**Even at 7,000′ on high ridges here, winter weather is generally mild
(highs in 50s) during the day.  For complete local weather info. please see–

Sat. Jan. 12.  DRY ROCK RIDGE RUN (7th annual)  8:10 a.m. M.S.T. start
50Km + shorter options
Rocky single-track trails, some dirt and paved roads at 4,700′- 6,000′
elev.  Over 6,000′ climb in 50Km.  Multi-loop format, views of high mountains in
three states and two countries.
Entry fees= $4 per adult park admission, $3 additional fees.
Water and other drinks at 4+ mile intervals, light snacks at 2, 13, 24
Color maps and written directions to all runners.

Course record= 6:55:39/ 30 miles

Sat. Feb. 16.  CACTUS PASS CLASSIC (50Km, 24 mi., 13 mile races)
Similar to above course, but event features fully stocked aid stations,
cool-max shirts, heavily flagged course, prizes to all finishers, awards 1-3
M/F each race, pre- and post-run meals, etc.
Motel accomodations available gratis for national class runners.

Sun. March 9.  GARDEN CITY OF CACTUS (GCC)  8:00 a.m.  (5th annual)
50Km + shorter distances.
Tough initial climb from 4,800′ to 7,200′, shorter ups and downs
through red rock canyons and arroyos later.  Total climb 6,000’+ in 31 miles.
Mixture of rocky trail, old jeep road and some very hilly paved road.
