The Ultra official race dates confirmed

Official Press Release
The Ultra management team have confirmed the most elite running race in the
world, will now start on October 14, 2009 and finish in Brisbane, some 44 days
later, on November 26.
Preliminary discussions with Australian media companies last year indicated
timing would be better suited outside of the Australian football seasons as this
would almost guarantee exceptional media coverage.
The Australian Traffic Network (ATN), the only dedicated traffic incident gathering
and reporting company in Australia, providing traffic reports to the major television
networks in Australia’s metropolitan areas, as well as to a vast network of radio
stations in both metropolitan areas and their outlying regional areas country-wide
was pleased to announce media support for this landmark event. ATN’s National
Sales Director, Chris Thornton, likened The Ultra to the Tour de France.
“I have followed the Tour de France for a number of years and I believe your event,
which is somewhat similar, will not only be great for local communities and
tourism, but will also generate great interest as does the tour,” Mr Thornton said.
With media discussions to secure telecasts rights for The Ultra continuing early
this year, The Ultra is set to focus the world’s attention on the elite sport of ultramarathon running in 2009.
The Ultra management team is very confident the race will attract 15 of the world’s
most elite ultra marathon runners.
