Clinton Lake 30 mile race report

The 2nd Annual Clinton Lake 30 Mile Trail Run (1st race of the Illinois Trail Ultra Series or “ITUGS”) held near De Witt, IL at the Clinton Lake State Recreation Area is on a course that is comprised of 3 x 10 Mile loops of technical single track and a little bit of road and prairie openings from the woods that we cross over. The trail leads us around a portion of the lake on the northern tip of Clinton Lake and is unlike most trails in the Chicago suburbs in that there is about 1500′ of elevation gain per loop, which makes it so attractive around these parts.
