Marathon of Ontario – 2008

Posted on April 11, 2008 by

Welcome

Spring is finally starting to show its face here in Ontario after a record winter, which saw over 360cm of snow fall on the race course. Within the next few weeks we hope to be able to get access to the Bruce Peninsula again and take another planning trip to this amazing race destination.

Interest in the event is growing globally, and we are getting interest from as far afield as Japan and Australia. We even have a few local runners sitting on the fence, thinking about breaking up the currently UK dominated field. For those coming from overseas, keep using the forum to discuss your flight and travel arrangements.

This Loose Moose Update we have some great announcements to make which will be of interest to anyone thinking about coming over for the event in August. There are no excuses for not getting your name on the list and your feet on the start line!

Online Payment

In partnership with Active.com we are now pleased to offer a new online registration and payment system for the Marathon of Ontario Summer Edition 2008.

This now allows us to accept entries using credit cards, making it easier for you to guarantee your place. Not only that but we are also able to offer different payment options, and competitors applying for the event can now choose to pay in full or installments.

About the Event

The Marathon of Ontario Summer Edition (Moose) is the world’s longest six day footrace, and will be held in Ontario, Canada from 16th to 22nd August 2008.

The 302km, six stage race is open to individuals and two-person relay teams. With terrain and conditions to rival all other ultras combined, it is not a race for the faint hearted.

Unlike other events we are keeping numbers low, this means we can provide better support and increase the family atmosphere of the event. You will not just be a number.

So you think a race in Canada is expensive? With both the entry fee and flight* combined it is still less than other multi-day races in Europe. Plus we provide more hotels and transfers, making planning easier. So there are no excuses on that front.

Not sure about the family? Bring them with you. We can assist in arranging trips and events to keep them entertained while you run. They can visit you on the course and come with you to the gala dinner to celebrate your achievement. Or better yet, bring them along as crew, where they can share the journey with you.

We look forward to hearing from you.
