Flanders Field Marathon – September 2008

Posted on July 25, 2008 by

If you have a relative resting in Flanders Fields you should be there on 14 september 2008, 90 year after the end of WW1!!

In Flanders Fields marathon 14 sept ’08 Ramskapelle(Nieuwpoort) – Diksmuide – Ieper (Ypres), in Flanders, Belgium

The start is at Ramskapelle (Nieuwpoort). The marathon follows the river the IJzer towards Diksmuide, and goes further alongside the Ieperlee to the historical town of Ieper- Ypres.

Diverse nationalities of runners are expected to compete at the battle fields of World War One.

Some of them will run for the victory or a personal record whereas others will fight peacefully against the wind, the distance and the fatigue.

As after all editions, runners will congratulate each other for their support or competitive spirit during the marathon.

Your participation supported “Doctors without borders” or “Kinderkankerfonds” (children cancer fundraising) or Handicap International etc

In ’14-’18 the victory in World War One was more important than personal survival.
This time participation in the “In Flanders Fields-marathon” is more valuable than the first place in the race.

Mistakes from the past are a lesson for today and tomorrow.

The “In Flanders Fields-marathon” may help to keep people’s mind open against useless violence and terror.

That’s why our English, American and Canadian friends talk about the “peace marathon” or “a marathon for peace”!

Therefore, participate and run this attractive marathon.
