It’s all systems go for the inaugural Montrail Penrose 24 on 1-2 November 2008!
With a little less than 2 months to go, the event is shaping up to be one the best additions to the Australian running calendar! This event really has it all: Versatility? Check! Challenge? Check! Fun? Double-check!!
The event is a team relay run in the beautiful Penrose State Forest, less than 2 hours from Sydney and Canberra. Teams can be made of 4, 8 or 12 runners. The more the team members, the less each runner has to go! During 24 hours, runners relay each other to complete laps on single track and fire trail – past the cows, through the ferns and forest, and along a beautiful creek. There are 2 loops to choose from: a 4km and an 8km, so according to each runner’s fitness level and desire, they can choose which loop to run. The winner of the event is the team that can run the most laps in the 24 hours period!
It’s a real challenge for those who choose while the not-so-serious can concentrate on having fun and enjoying the atmosphere. It is really about having a good time and giving it your best shot! More particularly, it is the team’s decision to run through the night or kick back at the event hub, enjoy the entertainment, food and more! Every team camps around the event hub, so it’s all happening in the same area!
Participants only need a pair of shoes to participate, making it a really simple event that anyone, whatever their fitness, age or size, can take part in and enjoy! It is particularly appropriate for companies looking for a fun team-building event and a special Corporate Cup has been created which will keep companies pushing their limits to beat the competition on the track!
